ELECTION DAY IS COMING! Register AND Vote!: VOTER & Political Info And Resources

Over the past year, “ThinkwingRadio with Mike Honig” has brought you dozens of interesting guests and many uncommon or rarely heard topics of discussion. We have callers from across the political and ideological spectrum, and I endeavor to treat them all with respect and courtesy so we can generate a real flow of ideas. You can listen to almost any show I’ve ever done (going back to May 2010) by going to the archive tab.

Welcome to Thinkwing Radio with Mike Honig (@ThinkwingRadio), a listener call-in show (every Wednesday night from 10-11PM CT) on KPFT-FM 90.1 (Houston). My engineer and discussion partner is Egberto Willies (@EgbertoWillies).

Listen live on the radio or on the internet from anywhere in the world! When the show is live, we take calls at 713-526-5738. (Long distance charges may apply.)

For the purposes of this show, I operate on two mottoes:

  • You’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts;
  • An educated electorate is a prerequisite for a democracy.

Houstonians Invited to “Think Bigger and Bolder” about Space Exploration at the 100 Year Starship 2014 Public Symposium

September 18-21, 2014 at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center

  • Houston, Texas, September 5, 2014—Houston is known for big thinking when it comes to space. Now 100 Year Starship (100YSS) is inviting people to think even bigger, creating the radical leaps in technology and bold social and cultural commitments necessary to explore deep space beyond our solar system—and improve life on Earth—in the next 100 years.

    Houston will host the third annual 100 Year Starship Public Symposium at the George R. Brown Convention Center from September 18-21, 2014. This unique four-day event is a global experience of imagination, hands-on programs, and thought-provoking discussions on the frontiers of science, space, technology, civilization, music and art, film screenings, and fun events for people of all ages. Themed Pathway to the Stars, Footprints on Earth and chaired by Dr. Mae Jemison, the 2014 Symposium brings together experts, enthusiasts, celebrities, innovators, educators, and leaders from around the world.

    The symposium has an uncommon, inspiring mix of topics and Special Guests.  Here is a sampling:

    • Jill Tarter, Ph.D. astronomer and co-founder of the SETI institute who was the inspiration for the main character of the movie Contact
    • Actor, icon and activist Nichelle Nichols,
    • TED Fellow and astrophysicist Hakeem Oluseyi, PhD.;
    • A sneak peak at not-yet-released Beyond Earth, the next installment of the Civilization mega game series.
    • Participants will explore the mechanical creativity of Steampunk with the world’s expert Mike Pershon, PhD and real rocket scientists;
    • Deep Dive into a Space Elevator system to transport hundreds of tons from a platform in the sea,
    • Examine the State of the Universe with former NASA Chief Technologist Mason Peck, PhD.; and
    • Share in hearing about the next big concept in life sciences in space exploration.
