Ted Cruz has dual US-Canadian citizenship.
In and of itself, this is not particularly remarkable. Many US citizens have dual citizenship. Some even go back to their home countries, run for office, and even WIN, while still retaining dual citizenship.
What makes Ted Cruz’s dual citizenship so delicious is that the birth circumstances by which he obtained US citizenship are identical to Barack Obama’s, with only three exceptions:
- Ted Cruz’s father was a citizen of Cuba, not Kenya;
- Ted Cruz was not born in any US State or Territory; and
- If you insist on seeing his valid birth certificate, it’s actually … foreign.
In the case of President Obama, Rightwingers have been so intent on proving he’s Kenyan that the question of whether he actually has dual Kenyan/US citizenship has never even been spoken of that I can recall. Does he? I don’t know.
This is a very sticky wicket for Rightwing Birthers. I think that the only things which would mess with their minds more is if it was discovered that Ronald Reagan was actually born in France and had a French birth certificate.
Does anyone remember Tila Tequila’s reality show, “A Shot At Love 2 with Tila Tequila”? I think the most real, touching and painful moment was at the end of the second, and final, season when she picked a woman as her possible love, and the woman turned her down. Her plaintive, “I don’t know why I keep getting my hearty broken,” was one of the most genuine moments of the show. What was perhaps most sad was that she could go through that process, see the people she was choosing, the qualities she was looking for in those people, and then at the end still not have her epiphany. I wanted to yell at the screen, “Tila! It’s because you’re attracted to jerks! You’re attracted to the wrong kind of people!”
Conservatives now are like Tila Tequila and your friend who is always falling for the wrong kinds of people. The jerks.

So Conservatives, when you ask yourselves, “Why do I keep getting my heart broken?”
Deep down, you know the answer.
