Contrary to earlier information, the #OccupyHouston base camp may be in one of TWO places: Bagby and Walker, or Bagby and Rusk. Both are at different parts of Tranquility Park.
So far, the news for Monday the 17th is about the Art Show. Try to attend and have some fun. Details are after the jump.
Remember, you can support #OccupyHouston without participating in specific demonstrations with which you do not agree! (Read: OPINION: #OccupyHouston and the Energy Day Protest (Oct. 15) Just bringing your warm body (and any other warm bodies you can rustle up) represents support for the movement.

I went downtown and nobody was there? Did you not get a permit. What was that comment about a raid. Should I expect to be arrested or beat up by cops if this event ever happens?

Nah, you won’t be arrested or beat up by cops–especially if you’re taking part in a planned event. The organizers have been very careful about following the law.
I showed up for the protest on Saturday, October 15, and it was orderly. I saw one of the protest organizers and a cop talk for a while and then shake hands. The Houston protests haven’t seen any violence.
Turnout was healthy on October 15, and I can tell you it felt great to be involved. You should come out.
As far as your finding nobody there: there are a group of about two dozen organizers who’ve been camping overnight. As of this writing, base camp is in lower Tranquility Park, at the corner of Rusk St. and Bagby St.
Check this website for the dates of upcoming protests and events. When those happen, you’ll find plenty of people there–of different types and ages.
