“… I know this world well. One of the things that is … a deep conviction of the conservative world is they speak for the people. When they get evidence … that they don`t, they don`t respond to that … by confessing it. They respond to it by redefining who the people are. Net Neutrality: What took Obama so long? Does his party have to get smashed in elections before he acts decisively?

Voter Fraud vs. Election Fraud: What’s the difference?
Don’t stop property taxes or Homeowners Insurance costs: This is not always made clear
Leaves heirs with debt issues: Taxes and reverse mortgage debt (FROM WEB SITE:Taking out a reverse mortgage can jeopardize your ability to leave your home to your heirs. If this is a priority for you, think twice about a reverse mortgage.)
FROM WEB SITE: Are you on a fixed income with no other assets? If you don’t have much income, a reverse mortgage might not be the best option for you. If you take out a reverse mortgage loan and then have trouble paying your property taxes and homeowner’s insurance, you could face foreclosure.Reverse Mortgages: Good or bad
“Underbanking”: What is it and why does it matter?
Organ Transplants: Why the dearth of donors?
Stop using the word “Harvest”
Some participants indicated that they wouldn’t donate the organs of their next of kin if his or her heart were still beating, even if they were proclaimed brain-dead.
due to a belief in the afterlife and the concern for maintaining body integrity.
Others can’t shake the “ick” factor. Defined by researchers as “a basic disgust response to the idea of organ procurement or transplantation,” a 2011 study in Scotland found that non-donors reported higher levels of the ick factor and concern with body integrity than donors.
Distrust of doctors; maybe too anxious to ‘harvest’. (The only word not explored in the article.)
WAYS OF PROMOTING ORGAN TRANSPLANT DONATION
“Opt out” instead of “Opt In”.

“Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again. But I will say, if you look at the exit polling data in Illinois, you’ll see that Mitt Romney is broadly acceptable to most of the factions in the party. You have to do that in order to become the nominee…” ~ Eric Fehrnstrom, Mitt Romney 2012 Campaign Communications Director, as quoted here.
Democrats should be proud. Many of their core positions won over voters this past election day. Unfortunately, their candidates didn’t. What’s wrong with this picture?
The problem in our elections, aside from abysmal turnout, is this:
20% of Dem voters would vote for a yellow dog
20% of GOP voters would vote for Charlton Heston, even though he’s dead.
40% of Dem or GOP voters would vote for almost any candidate of their party, which usually means that about 80% of the electorate is usually not in play.
This leaves the 20% of voters (so-called “Undecideds”, sometimes known as “Low Information Voters”) who only start to pay attention to what politicians are saying and doing for 4-8 weeks before election day. This is why Romney’s campaign manager talked about the “Etch-a-sketch” strategy: Just start the campaign over, because no one who matters (the 20% who are ‘swing voters’) will know or recall any of the contradictory stuff you’ve been saying or doing for years prior.
So one of the big challenges Dems have (aside from turning out their base) is how to get as many of those “20 per centers” as possible realize that politics affects their daily lives, and to pay attention most of the time between elections.

TOPIC: We’re getting to the end of the enrollment period for ACA/Obamacare for 2014. There are many resources available to assist you in getting enrollment information and assistance. Some will be discussed on the show, and others are available using the links in “SOURCES”, below. Be sure to avail yourself of as many opportunities for information ad assistance as necessary so you can make informed choices with which you ‘ll be comfortable and healthy.
NOTE: This post is subject to update before and after the show.
The following is from GetCoveredAmerica.org. I read part of it as a PSA on my show on Wednesday night, and I offer this more complete version as a community service.
This Saturday, February 15, is an important day for listeners between the ages of 18 and 34, the so-called “Young Invincibles.” If you are 18 to 34 and uninsured, or know someone who is, go to Discovery Green in Downtown Houston Saturday between 1 – 4 p.m. for “Rock Enroll Houston.” Mayor Annise Parker will be there, and health organizations will be on hand to answer questions. Food trucks, the Houston Dynamo, rock music, sports and fitness vendors, and a chance to win an iPad will all be part of this event.
Health coverage is one of the best things young adults can do to protect their future. Nearly half – 43% – of all Houstonians between the ages of 18 and 34 lack health insurance. But unplanned medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcy, and young adults who are uninsured miss out on regular check-ups and access to a doctor’s office. Before the enrollment period for the new health insurance marketplace ends on March 31, come find out about new options that are available to you and financial assistance that’s here.
Bullet Points:
Houston is celebrating National Youth Enrollment Day for Houstonians age 18 – 34 with a citywide event Saturday –> “Rock Enroll Houston”, downtown at Discovery Green Park from 1 – 4 pm.
43% of Houstonians between 18 and 34 years of age lack health coverage.
At 1 pm, Mayor Annise Parker will present a proclamation naming February 15, 2014 as Houston’s National Youth Enrollment Day, and thanking the many organizations participating.
U.S. Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee will follow the Mayor with remarks on the importance of “Getting Covered.”
Representatives from a variety of health organizations will be on hand to answer questions, make appointments, and start the enrollment process.
Radio Station 104.1 KRBE will be broadcasting live from Rock Enroll.
Players from the Houston Dynamo Major League Soccer team will greet the crowd and sign autographs.
Participants will have the opportunity to take a Health quiz and be entered to win one of three iPads, given away in person at the event.
